Getting down to business

Orientation is finally coming to an end and now the real work starts. In a couple of hours I'll be picked up from the luxurious hostel, complete with pool, a bar and awesome table mountain views, and will be heading into the burbs to starting both my volunteering, and also my stay with the host family....

The week has been great, with many activities and tours throughout. It's a case of every day providing me with a different perspective of Cape Town and giving me a different insight into African culture. There's certainly been some highs and lows along the way, and the experience
has particularly demonstrated the difference between the haves and have nots, as well as providing a background into the history and development of the country.

It's also been a pretty unique bonding experience with the group who arrived last Tuesday. We've done all the tours together and been through all the icebreakers so that now when we do leave we've got a pretty strong network of friends built up. Everyone here seems to have a different perspective of how their projects will pan out, so it will be interesting to see how everyone finds it after a couple of weeks.
